SMS Consent & Opt-In Process

Purpose of this page
How consent is obtained
Wavefield is a B2B platform — our clients (market researchers, pollsters, and similar organizations) bring their own contact lists of respondents they already have a relationship with. Wavefield does not collect phone numbers or solicit consent directly from the general public.
Before uploading a contact list, the client must already have obtained consent from those respondents to be contacted about research, through the client's own pre-existing means (e.g. a prior customer relationship, a signed consent form, or a web form the client operates).
On-platform consent confirmation
Consent is not just assumed — before any SMS invitation can be sent for a study, the client must explicitly check an affirmative, SMS-specific attestation in the product. This checkbox only appears when the client selects the Text (SMS) channel, and the "Send invitations" action is disabled until it is checked:

The exact checkbox text: “I confirm these respondents opted in to receive text messages about this research (required — texting without consent violates TCPA/CASL). Replies of STOP are honored automatically.”
Message content sent to respondents
Every SMS invitation follows the same template, sent by the platform automatically:
You're invited to a survey: [Survey Title]. [Optional custom sentence from the client.] Your personal link: https://app.wavefieldresearch.com/s/[token] Reply STOP to opt out.
A reminder to respondents who haven't completed the study uses the same format, opening with “Reminder — your survey is still open: [Survey Title].” instead. Message frequency is typically one invitation and up to two reminders per study.
